HOPE in the Neighborhood

During the school year we offer a Monday after school program that includes a hearty snack, outdoor games, and one-on-one tutoring for children in the neighborhood who are in pre-school through middle school

Unity Garden

Neighbors on Ford Avenue,  students at William Monroe High School, and parishioners at Grace Church are working with other members of the community including the Spotswood Trail Garden Club and our local branch of the VA Cooperative Extension in our community garden. We have made some dramatic improvements including adding water access at the garden and installing solar-powered deer fencing to help increase the yield. 

Feeding Greene Food Pantry

Our Local Food Bank thanks the parishioners of Grace Church for their abundant donations. All items are greatly appreciated.

G.R.A.C.E Alliance

We are committed to a monthly offering to this local non-profit that offers help to local folks with rent, utilities, and other needs.

Grace Church Outreach Activities

  • Weekly HOPE Tutorial for our local children which includes one-on-one tutoring, outdoor games, hearty snacks, and spiritual education

  • Creation of a Unity Garden for the local families to help plant, care for, harvest, and enjoy the bounties of……also have sessions on healthy eating tips and recipes

  • Feeding local families with food and fellowship through the Saturday Neighborhood Brunches served on each of the 5th Saturdays during the year

  • On Shrove Tuesday, the men of Grace Church cook a complete pancake supper open to the entire community

  • Encouraging physical activity in the local community with church-organized biking, walking, and chair yoga groups

  • Installing a regulation-size basketball hoop in our parking lot for the local families to use

  • Hosting of a Bereavement Support Group to aid anyone in the area who is working through grief

  • Supporting Feeding Greene, our local food pantry, with food, monetary donations, and the use of our large parking lot for their shoppers

  • Support GRACE (Greene Alliance of Church/Community Efforts) a volunteer organization that assists Greene County residents in need.

    • Cooking and serving meals for the local residents at Tuesdays Table several times during the year

    • Parishioner donations of school supplies for the Back-To-School Program for local children

    • Parishioner donations of food for the Thanksgiving Food Box Program for local families

    • Parishioner donations of gifts for the Christmas Gift Program for local children

    • Parishioner donations of time to help at Another Time Around Thrift Shop whose profits are used for local aid

    • Monetary donations from our Outreach Budget to help them assist local residents with rent, utilities, and other needs

  • First Sunday of the month Plate donations go to the Vicar's Discretionary Fund which aids local families in need

  • Grace ECW supports various charities at the end of the year with monies they receive from fundraisers and donates Christmas gifts, supplied by members, to Jackson Feild Home residents

  • Opening the church doors to the community with free refreshments for local town events such as the Christmas Parade, 4th of July Parade, Art Guild Crawl, Strawberry Festival

  • Support YDC (Youth Development Council) a local organization with programs that enhance the academic, social, personal, and spiritual development of the youth of Greene County

    • Provide healthy snacks at various times during the year for their After School Program

    • Open our Parish Hall and Church as a home base for their YDC Summer Camp for two weeks, also providing food

    • Several of our parishioners are very active in the organization

    • Monetary donations from our Outreach Budget

  • Other groups to which we donate funds to

    • Greene Care Clinic - provides free healthcare to residents of GC who are uninsured and in need

    • JABA - a local non-profit agency serving seniors and care-givers with support, activities & counseling

    • MLK Jr Scholarship Fund – provides scholarships for college-bound students in GC

    • Women’s Club of Greene County - provides scholarships for college-bound students in GC and gifts for children at Christmastime
